What does a website cost in India in 2026? A clear breakdown
What you pay for, what changes the price, what you pay every year, and the questions to ask before you hire anyone.

Ask five agencies for a website price and you can get five very different numbers. That's because "a website" can mean a one-page template or a custom store with payments and stock. This guide explains what you are actually paying for, so you can compare quotes properly.
The one-time build
This is the design and development work. What moves the price:
- Number of pages and how much each one needs to be designed rather than copied.
- Template or custom design. A template is quicker and cheaper; a custom design fits your brand and is easier to make fast.
- Who writes the words. Good copy takes time. Some quotes assume you supply it.
- Features: online payments, bookings, a product catalogue, a customer login, multiple languages, links to your billing or CRM software.
- SEO set-up: page titles, structured data, sitemap, speed work and Google Business Profile. Often missing from cheap quotes.
The yearly costs
These come every year, whoever builds the site:
- Domain name (yourbusiness.com or .in), renewed yearly.
- Hosting, the server the site runs on. Shared hosting is fine for most small business sites; online stores may need more.
- Business email (you@yourbusiness.com), usually charged per mailbox.
- Care and updates: security updates, backups, small edits. Optional, but a site nobody looks after slowly breaks.
Make sure the domain is registered in your name and that you have the login. If the relationship with your developer ends, you keep your address.
Our prices, for reference
These are the starting prices we publish on this site (before GST; domain and hosting billed at cost):
- Launch, ₹24,999: up to 5 custom pages, mobile-first and fast, WhatsApp and enquiry forms, SEO and Google indexing.
- Growth, ₹59,999: up to 12 pages and a blog, Google Business Profile set-up, local SEO and AI-search basics, analytics and lead tracking.
- Scale, ₹99,999: larger online stores, portals and web apps with payments and integrations.
Every project still gets a fixed, itemised quote after a free call, because two "5-page websites" can need very different work. See all services.
Questions to ask before you pay anyone
- Is the price fixed? What exactly is included, and what costs extra?
- Who owns the domain, the design and the content when we're done?
- Will it be fast on a phone over mobile data? Can I see a live site you built?
- Is basic SEO included: titles, descriptions, sitemap, Search Console?
- What happens after launch: who fixes things and how quickly?
- Can I edit text and photos myself?
When the cheapest quote costs more
A very low price usually means a template with your logo dropped in, no copywriting, no SEO and no one to call afterwards. That can be fine for a first step. But if the site is slow, doesn't show up on Google or can't take enquiries, it costs you the customers it should be bringing in. Judge a quote by what it will do for the business, not only by the number.
